Search Engine: - Search Engine is a web based application that helps in information finding.
Google, Yahoo, Bing and AltaVista, Duck-Duck Go are some popular search engines.
Spider or web crawler: - It crawls over the web to comb out any newly published web document and find their web address.
Protocols: - Protocols are some set of rules to data transfer. There are some popular protocols:
1. FTP (File Transfer Protocol): - FTP is used to exchange files between two or more computers on the Internet.
2. TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol) - TCP breaks the data into small packets and IP transmitted these packets over the Internet.
3. HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) - HTTP is a request/response protocol. It carries client request to server and server response to client.
4. SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) - SMTP is the most common protocol used for sending e-mails between two or more servers.
5. IMAP and POP (Internet Message Access Protocol and Post Office Protocol) – IMAP and POP are used for retrieving e-mails.
Services of Internet
1. E-Mail- E-Mail is the service of Internet. It is a paperless method for sending messages. An E-mail address has two parts the Header and the body separated by ‘@’ symbol. It does not contain spaces.

2. Chat- It is an online conversation just like a written phone call.
3. Video Conferencing- It is a face to face conversation among the people to discuss political, business, medical and social affairs using microphone and camera. It saves time and money. Some software for video conferencing are- WhatsApp, Facebook, Skype, Zoom, GoToMeeting etc.
4. Social Networking- Social Networking is the grouping of individuals in to specific groups who share interests and activities. Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, Linkedin are some social networking sites.
5. Blog- A blog is an easy to create website that allow users to share their thoughts with the world. The process of updating a blog is called blogging and the person who writes a blog is called blogger.
6. Newsgroup- It is a platform where people can exchange information on any topic.
7. Usenet- Usenet stands for User’s Network. It enables its users to join a newsgroup for discussing various topics of their interests.
8. Telnet- Telnet is used to establish a connection between different computers, which may be geographically apart.

1. E-Learning- E-Learning means “Electronic Learning”.
a. It is less expensive because it reduce travel cost and time.

2. E-banking- E-banking stands for electronic banking. It is a way of performing bank transactions using Internet.

3. E-Shopping- It is also called Online Shopping. It allows purchasing of goods from any part of the world.

There are some disadvantages also-
There is a huge risk of online fraud.
Making online payment is not purely safe.
